About

The Peace Education Institute is a non-profit organization incorporated in 2007 in the State of Oklahoma for the purpose of providing educational opportunities to children, youth and adults that will contribute to non-violence in all aspects of living and in encourage people to become active in non-violent social change.

Our director Conna Wilkinson.

CONNA WILKINSON holds a degree in Religious Education from Oklahoma City University. As an employee of a United Methodist urban outreach ministry in Oklahoma City from 1987- 2007, she developed curricula and programming for children and youth in high-risk urban situations. While there, she became aware of the societal pressures on all of us to consider violence an acceptable, even desirable, option for problem-solving for individuals as well groups and nations. Her commitment today is to offer and support opportunities for Oklahomans and others to experience training and education that will raise awareness, motivate action, and equip people to create a more peaceful culture in America.

The Peace Education Institute operates under the 501(c)3 designation of the Communities Foundation of Oklahoma, and because of that relationship, all donations to the Peace Education Institute are tax deductible and checks should be made out to PEI/CFO.

We are located on a beautiful 5-acre tract of land just 5 miles east of I-35 at Post Road and East Wilshire Blvd.

Programs
Our programs take place in various locations in the region.

We focus on teaching and modeling personal spiritual discipline, nonviolence, sustainable living patterns, and reconnecting with nature.

PEI is dedicated to the premise that every sane human being on the Planet would prefer to live in a peaceful and just society rather live with on-going violence and inequity.We do that by being considerate of others and willing to sacrifice non-essential items so that people we care about can have the essentials. We also learn to communicate clearly and to understand ourselves as deeply as possible, learning not to judge and exclude others, but to include and support them.
