The High School Peace Camp is held at Church of the Open Arms, 3131 N. Penn Ave., Oklahoma City, OK.
It is Monday-Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Vegetarian lunches are provided.
This summer, the youths will receive the full 20 hours of nonviolence training provided in the workshop entitled: "Creating a Culture of Peace: Nonviolence for Personal and Social Change."
The purpose of this camp to encourage young people to be activitly involved in their society by participating in the democratic process nonviolently, of course.
Past curricula has included world religions and historical peace actions and heros.
A lot of free time is included in the daily routine for creative expression. During this camp we've had bands form and write original music, artistic and photographic pieces have also been created.
All our camps celebrate diversity and creativity.
The Lessons of Peace Camp

One of the most influential experiences of my life was attending Peace Camp. Peace Camp is a camp I go to every summer where we learn any number of things. We learn how to protest non-violently, we learn how we can help create a peaceful environment, and we also learn about what is going on in the political world at the present time. Peace Camp made me realize what I really believe. I believe in having an intelligent president who thinks before s/he leaps, in the importance of non-violent protesting, and in the importance of peaceful negotiation between countries. (read the rest)
